Terms of use

Last updated 7 September 2026

The agreement between you and hoppir. We've tried to write it in plain language, and where a clause matters to your money, it says so in the same words we use everywhere else on this site.

Draft for review. This document is a working draft pending sign-off by a South African attorney. Bracketed values are placeholders and are not yet binding.

1. Who you are dealing with

hoppir is operated by [Registered company name] ([registration number]), a company registered in South Africa with its address at [address]. By creating an account, taking a membership or paying for a class you agree to these terms.

2. What hoppir is

hoppir is a marketplace. You either take a monthly membership, which includes an allowance of credits to spend at partner studios, or you pay for a single class outright. Either way, the class itself is delivered by that studio and not by us: they set the schedule, the instructor, the standard of the facility, and their own rules of entry. We are responsible for the booking, your credits and your payment.

Credits and payments only ever buy admission to real, in-person classes at partner venues. hoppir does not sell, stream or provide on-demand or virtual class content.

3. Credits

  • Credits are the unit classes are priced in on hoppir. They are not legal tender, cannot be exchanged for cash, and cannot be transferred to another person.
  • Credits included in a membership are an allowance for that month. They are part of what your membership gives you, not a separate balance you have purchased.
  • Unused credits roll over for one month. Anything left at the end of a month remains available through the following month. Your balance is capped at two months’ allowance, and credits are spent oldest first.
  • If you cancel, your membership and its credits run to the end of the period you have already paid for. Nothing renews after that, and there is no cancellation fee. This includes credits refunded to you from a class cancelled before that period ends.
  • The credit cost of a class is set by the studio and displayed on the class before you book. It does not change between the moment you see it and the moment you book it.

4. Paying for a single class

You do not need a membership to book. Every class carries both prices, and when you book you choose which one you are using.

  • Your seat is held for 15 minutes while you pay. If the payment is not completed in that time, the hold ends and the seat goes back on sale.
  • The price is the credit cost the studio set for that class, at the same rate a credit is valued at everywhere on hoppir. We do not add a booking fee, a surge or a premium for paying this way.
  • A class paid for outright is a payment for that class only. It does not add credits to a wallet, and it does not create a membership or anything that renews.
  • The same 24-hour rule in section 5 applies. Cancel more than 24 hours before the class and we refund the payment to the card you used. Cancel inside those 24 hours, or fail to arrive, and the payment is not refunded.

5. Bookings, cancellations, no-shows and waitlists

When you book with credits, the credits leave your wallet and the seat is held for you. hoppir applies one cancellation rule at every partner studio: cancel more than 24 hours before the class starts and the credits return to your wallet in full. Cancel within those 24 hours, or fail to arrive, and the credits are spent, because the studio has held a place you did not use. The window is the same everywhere on hoppir; individual studios do not set their own.

If you paid for a single class rather than using credits, the same window applies: cancel more than 24 hours before and we refund the payment to the card you used; cancel inside 24 hours, or fail to arrive, and the payment is not refunded.

If a class is full you may join its waitlist. Joining costs nothing and gives you a place in the queue. When a seat frees up we book it for the first person on the list who has enough credits, and those credits leave your wallet at that moment. There is no separate offer for you to accept, so treat a waitlist place as a booking you have agreed to in advance. You can leave a waitlist at any time before that happens. Waitlist places are filled with credits only.

If a studio cancels a class, your credits are returned to your wallet in full, or your payment is refunded to the card you used.

6. Memberships that renew

A monthly membership is a subscription. It renews automatically each month and charges the card you saved until you stop it. You can stop renewal at any time from the app, effective at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep the allowance that period included. You may also choose to start the next month early: doing so charges the plan price immediately and moves your renewal date to the day you do it, and any credits you had not used from the period you end still roll over for one month. If a renewal payment fails we will retry it and tell you; no new credits are added until it succeeds.

7. Payment

Every price on hoppir is a rand amount and includes VAT where applicable. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store your full card details. A membership or a single class bought through hoppir is a purchase of services consumed in person at a physical venue.

8. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, including any right to cancel a transaction within a cooling-off period where that Act applies. Where a term here conflicts with a right that cannot be contracted out of, that right wins.

9. Using hoppir properly

  • Use your own account, and don’t let anyone else check in on your booking or use your check-in code to enter a class.
  • Follow the rules of the studio you visit: their entry requirements, safety instructions and equipment rules apply to you as if you had booked directly.
  • Don’t attempt to interfere with the booking system, obtain credits you are not entitled to, or scrape the service.

We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service, and where we do we will tell you why.

10. Your health

Exercise carries risk. hoppir does not provide medical advice and cannot assess whether a class is suitable for you. Speak to a doctor if you’re unsure, and tell the instructor about injuries or conditions before class.

11. Our liability

We are liable for the parts we control: your credits, your payment and your booking. We are not liable for the conduct of a partner studio, the quality of a class, or injury sustained during one, except to the extent the law does not allow us to exclude that liability.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you before it takes effect, and continuing to use hoppir afterwards means you accept it. These terms are governed by South African law.

Studios have their own terms, published on the Terms page of the studio portal from the day a studio goes live. These terms are the agreement between you and hoppir, not between you and a studio.
